Project Overview
In this wacky multiplayer 2D platform fighter, players battle it out by maneuvering around the stage and knocking their opponents off with varied attacks. Players can choose from three distinct characters: the mech-piloting cat, Momo, a skilled boxer, Angie "The Star", and a crudely drawn stick figure, Stickman. Each of these characters has different types of attacks that fit their general build and designated archetype. The game contains three different stages to choose from, each corresponding to a character’s respective “home world."

Character Design
Character Overview
Angie is a fighter that specializes in devastating punches. Her design is based on female kickboxers and MMA fights. Her moves are again based on real-world fighters but also based on some popular media fighters like Balrog from Street Fighter and Star Platinum from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I ended up sticking with a more warm color pallet for her so she stands out in contrast to the blue or cool tone backgrounds.
Angie is the "medium" attacker so she represents a more well-rounded character with attacks that equal her movement speed.

Concept Art
My original plan was to have two characters; the boxer and the kicker.
The boxer would only use their fists while the kicker would only use their legs.

We ended up deciding to only use one character and we narrowed it down.
I had my teammates vote on their favorite design and we all ended up picking the one on the far right.

The final design ended up staying almost the exact same with only a few missing details for animating purposes.

Environment Design
Environment Overview
Angie's world is a fighting ring called "Boxing Ring." The art style matches the clean, hand-drawn aesthetic of Angie.
The idea of a boxer and a boxing ring stems more from classic fighting games like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. While the character might be more in line with a common martial artist, the boxing ring has more of an arena-type feel to it. Loosely based on the pro-bending arena from Legend of Korra, the boxing ring is isolated in the middle of the stadium giving it a slightly more futuristic vibe as well as serving the function of allowing the knock-back/off mechanic.

Concept Art
I started out with a mostly blue background so that both Angie and the kicker (from my original idea) would match the scene without getting washed out.
However, as a team, we felt that the color blue too closely resembled one of the other arenas, Meowtropolis. To combat this, I just readjusted the background colors to better represent Angie, since we had already settled on her as the final character.

I then used the newly readjusted concept art to make the final Boxing Ring design.

I also decided to add some animated elements to the Boxing Ring so that it feels more alive.
